Keeping it in the country...

My sister found this website yesterday and sent me on a link because she thought I would be interested... and I certainly was. The website and company in question is Seka Cosmetics and I think they are worth a mention.

Why are they so loverly, you ask me, well they are a new Irish company that make and sell their own cosmetics. Lippy, eyeshadows, blusher, bronzer and so on... They are against animal testing and are not afraid of bold colours. I am so tempted to buy a few tubs of the eyeshadows which are decently priced. They also have set up a section where you can create your own lippy, so if you can't find a colour in the shops come to this website...

Just some of the pretty eyeshadows, love them!

I probably sound like an advertisement but I feel like supporting a home grown business and this is the only way I can...

White stripes make me feel happy inside...

Forgive the angry face (I hate smiling in these photos: I don't know why). Anyway, how is everyone? Sorry for the lack of posts this week, college work has literally swallowed me whole. But at least there was no college today so I treated myself to wearing my favourite dress while doing my college work at home... It was my first vintage purchase and I love love LOVE it. It was a great purchase because unlike most vintage clothes it was cheap enough and in my size... I'm on the look out for some more pieces for the summer (Ebay is looking pretty good right now: plenty of pretty stuff at good prices). Wish me luck on my vintage hunt!

Slowing down to catch the heart...

Now, I've been crushing on Chloe Sevigny and her style for awhile now... So it was only a matter of time before I did a post on her. There is just something about her style that is so effortless and chic (and we all know how I love things to be effortless and chic). I wanted to put loads more photos up of her and her beautiful wardrobe but I thought that might look a tad crazy. So you will have to settle for these lovelies... I am particularly in love with the jacket/shorts combo... Love love LOVE! What do you think?

Deserted, left with my lace...

I found these images off the amazing blog that is Knightcat and I just had to put them up... Firstly because I love love LOVE the outfits in the photos, the heavy, cream lace, the black tulle, the soft and loose jersey and, the bleached denim! Secondly because I love the images themselves, the softness to them, the light, the set, the poses... well everything! And thirdly I love the story in the images (well the story I read from them). This girl abandoned in this giant, old mansion with nothing but her clothes and she wanders around the mansion afraid to leave but forever dreaming of the outside world... I may be reading into the imagery too much.

Kiss from the coral sun, tell no one...

I mentioned before that I had been searching for a decent coral lip stick and I have finally found one... Tis from the new Rimmel collection that the striking Georgia May Jagger is modeling... This particular colour is called Tell No One and I love it! It is my new day lippy so don't be surprised if you see me wearing it in all my outfit pics! It is matte and quite waxy and stays on very well. It is also such a subtle coral so in a weird way looks quite natural on (I think anyway...).

I'm becoming quite the lippy whore (he he). I'm just loving lip stick so much and I just can't get enough of all the colours that are available... Next on my list is a matte baby pink for that summer punk-ish look or maybe a good sheer nude for a lazy chicness.... Or maybe both.... Will be on the look out.

Armed with my trusty mini dress...

Today is another gorgeous day (we better get a whole lot more) and I'm being super brave and wearing my most mini of mini dresses (be kind he he). I decided to wear it with an open denim shirt, cream jazzy flats and my messy hair... It looks very lazy utility which is great for a Saturday! The outfit was perfect and light for a morning of shopping... And shop I did. I've bought so much recently. Must do a giant post on my last few purchases. That will be done very soon :)

I would also like to thank Conor Behan, from Style Nation, who asked me to take part in a programme for TV3. Unfortunately I couldn't accept due to heaps of college work to do (remember that dreaded stop motion animation, grr).

Bound by style... A prison I love to be in...

Now I know in my last post I went on about being thrilled to get the auld pins out (I am, don't get me wrong) But I wanna just ramble about my new burning love for the full length tube skirts and dresses.... There is something so effortless about them. I think if you want to create that "I don't care if I look good but I know I do" look then one of these pieces are key.... I'd layer them with long cardigans, denim/mens shirt, long chains, light vests, gladiator flats, pomps, biker boots, bracelets galore or even a crop top (if I'm ever brave enough). Below are just a few that I am currently crushing on...

The two skirts above are from Asos and are great for the summer (good and punchy) and can be layered with black and grey during the winter months

This one I adore and it is from Topshop. I think it is quite quirky

This lovely is from Asos

This is from Warehouse and isn't as long as the rest but I think it is lovely and I want it very much.

Staring at the sun with such freedom...

Ok, I know I'm probably jumping the gun here but there was sun yesterday, SUN! And there is more again today! Lord, how I have dreamed of this moment... Due to the lovely weather my boyfriend and I brought the dog on a walk to Glenbarrow, which is the most beautiful place I've ever been to. And I was dying with the heat under the roof of trees. So when I came home and tore of my muddy jeans and got my legs out! My Dad told me I looked very glammed up but I thought I looked just right for a pretty Thursday evening... Summer makes me feel so good inside, it makes me want to go out and do so many new things and be adventurous and be wild and stay out all night and bathe in the sun all day! I'm really looking forward to this summer! I'm gonna try to be wild and adventurous he he...

Pulling the short straw...

I now we still don't have the right weather for bare legs but that doesn't mean I can't start shopping for shorts (after all I can wear tights with them). I am a larger girl so I used to steer clear of shorts but in the past year or so I've lost over a stone so this summer I'm gonna bare my pins in some loverly shorts. Above are just some of the styles that I like... I have decided for my casual day shorts to be the floaty culotte style. I'm thinking they'd be the most comfortable and most flattering on my thighs (plus they have really pretty patterns!).

Top three images from Asos
Rest from Topshop

Now for something a tad more daring.... I am also searching for some leather shorts, for the days when I wanna feel edgy and cool. The top image is the best photograph I could get of the leather shorts that I am dying to get (no.4). As you can tell the have a lovely scalloped edge and are rather high waisted. I just love them. They say they are from Asos but I have yet to find them... When I do I will most certainly buy. If I never find them (sad face) I am thinking I might just get the bottom pair which are from the H! by Henry Holland collection. They are nice and simple so I imagine I would be able to team them with loads...

What do you think about this leather shorts trend? What do you think about shorts in general? Let me know...

One Word, Amazing...

So the Absolut Style @ Set was on this weekend and it was incredible! Everything I hoped and more... (smiley face!!!!!!) Blanaid really outdid herself this time!

Friday

Friday was a wonderfully relaxing day where my buddy Chris and I chilled with our feet up and our faces full of popcorn. It was the fashion movie day and it did not disappoint. The movies on the line up were: Breakfast at Tiffanys (has to be seen on the big screen), Valentino: The Last Emperor ( a really good documentary, would watch it again), The September Issue (made me feel so sorry for Anna Wintour which I was not expecting), Grey Gardens and Sex in the City. There were also hot dogs, cupcakes and crepes on sale (crepes were so yummy!) and the whole day seemed so relaxed which was perfect for Friday. Also the Set Theatre is simply gorgeous.... go in and have a peek if you can.

Saturday

Oh where do I start???? Saturday was epic! I was in Heaven looking at all the vintage stuff. The chiffon, the netting, the beading! Everything looked so pretty and I wanted it all! All the exhibitors were so nice and friendly and were all dressed brilliantly! The stalls and stands were so extraordinary I was afraid to touch anything but they exhibitors were more than happy to let you try on everything (which I took full advantage of!). My favourite stands belonged to Dirty Fabulous (everything they had was divine, could not stop staring at their stand! They had a mix of vinatge stock and hand made items made from vintage pieces), Bonzie (they made all their own pieces hand made from vintage clothes/jewellery, they were so beautiful and quirky) and Rebekah Patterson (she made unique hats and headpieces that would surely get you noticed, one word: gorgeous!). I was also delighted to find plus size vintage clothes there, some even too big for me... Its good to know there is great vintage clothes for us bigger ladies!

The master classes were really good as well. I really enjoyed them. Annemarie O'Conner did a class in how to create a good capsule wardrobe and she knew what she was talking about. I agreed with everything she said... She had such a friendly presence that it made me want to listen to her.

Kieran O'Gorman and Co were full of life and fun to listen to during their master class. He made some really good points that made me think and I'm less afraid of hairdressers now (he he!).

Laura Cunningham is a smart cookie when it comes to shapes! Her master class was on dressing for your shape (I trust her: she was dressed brilliantly). I just need to figure out if I'm an apple or an hour glass, I had traits of both of them.

Saturday Night

The Mad Hatters Tea Party was unbelievable!! We had appletinis in teapots, pixie sticks, naked, gold dancers and a man on stilts! The dj-ing was brilliant throughout the night and I danced til my feet literally would not work anymore! My outfit is fairly demented which was the dress code so I didn't care. Blanaid I'm coming again next year, it was brilliant! And even though she told me she was stressed she certainly didn't look it! Gorgeous woman! Gorgeous event!
