Tartan, Studs, Sequins. These are a few of my favourite things...

Mixing a lot of different things in this outfit. It probably shouldn't but I think it works (woot). I just felt like putting on an outfit that made me cool deep down inside (he he little sad probably but sure who doesn't love feeling cool).

I really do believe that clothes can make you feel a certain way. They may not define you but a good outfit can make the whole day better. Same as an outfit that you are unhappy with can ruin a day, well not ruin but you know what I mean . Like a bad hair day (*shudder* they are terrible).

I know I am so profound...

Do your clothes make you feel better?

As they instruct: get Carried away...

London Premiere

New York Premiere

Of course I couldn't let this week pass without mentioning possibly the movie of the summer (for me anyway). And of course I had to mention the dresses!!!!

My love for Sex and the City all began when I first started to watch it when I was like fifteen or something (purely for the clothes). But the characters grew on me and I began to really enjoy the story lines and all that was going on in the world of Carrie and her friends.

Now, down to the important bit, the dresses!!! Well I think all the women looked fantastic both nights, but my favourite out of the whole lot of them is Kristin Davis' one from the New York premiere. It is bright pink (which might have turned me off it) but the cut is so elegant and classic so I think it works so well. It is just so pretty.

SJP's dresses are so interesting and beautiful. You can always count on her to deliver something stunning and out of the ordinary. Cynthia Nixon, I think, looked so elegant both nights and I'm loving the longer hair on her. Kim Cattrall was just oozing sex appeal as usual (gorgeous!).

Also, just so you know, SJP's London premiere dress is by the late Alexander McQueen.

A difficult call...

Had a lazy outfit day... Don't really know what theme I was going for, just threw stuff on to see if they worked (I still don't know if they do). This is an awkward skirt I find which is a shame because it is a pretty skirt. I can never find anything that looks completely right with it, but I am thinking that this loverly blue shirt from American Apparel would work quite well... So it is going on the wish list (that list is getting a tad long).

How gorgeous is the weather by the way!?!? How lovely! Hope it keeps up... Also I'd like to know was I completely stupid putting these clothes together??? Let me know...

Skirt: Dorothy Perkins
Flats: Dunnes
Vest: I can't remember (sorry)

Daring to be free yet happy to be strapped in...

Ok I want these, it's just that simple... However I do not have around €100 or so to part with so I must go one wanting.... Saw them on NastyGal and I fell in love... They are by Jeffrey Campbell, I'm gonna search the online wonder world to see if I can't find something just as beautiful but with a more "student friendly" price tag... Wish me luck!

Like a ballet dancer caught in her element...

Top two: Zara (very cute)
Middle one: Asos (there was a much nicer one in this weekends
Sunday Times Style but as usual it isn't on the website yet grr)
Bottom two: Topshop (very fresh I think)

I've been loving these bodies for awhile now... They show of a woman's glorious curves so well. I know some ladies would be a tad scared of the fact that they can be clingy and are pretty much a swimming togs but it is not like you are gonna saunter around the town in one with nothing else (unless you aspire to the stylings of Lady Gaga).

If and when I get one I'd more that likely team it with an skirt or some gorgeous high waisted trousers. The reason I love them is because you won't have to pull your top down and make sure it isn't gonna bunch up which can get so annoying. If I was a littler braver I would team it with some jeggings and a pair of gladiator flats.

Pulling up my stocking as I turn the page...

I have found it... a magazine that I wanna read from cover to cover... I've wanted a good fashion mag for awhile and the rest were just not hitting the mark. I was actually very disappointed in Vogue and Glamour (don't hurt me), Glamour was the better of the two and I had worn out my love for Look, I enjoy the Sunday Times Style but it is just not big enough. So I thought I'd give Nylon a go this month, not really expecting to like it but I love it!!!!

It is very offbeat and stylish and cool (and all that jazz) and even the ads are interesting and they are for quirky shops like Ray-ban and American Apparel. Some of the stuff is high fashion but it is mixed so well with high street. Also I am currently enjoying the articles (so easy to read). How gorgeous and fresh does Zoe Saldana look on this months cover????

I feel that if you are gonna pay upwards to six quid on one of these mags you really want it to make it worth your while and Nylon is really hitting the spot. Plus I feel so cool reading it...

Chic is a two legged word...

I found this loverly image off Lookbook and it reminded me why I love tapered trousers. This outfit is just super chic! I love it! Outfit posts like this always make me so jealous. Are these people ever not effortlessly stylish? Do they not have days in baggy cardigans and jeans and some converse? Wish I had their wardrobes...

Anyway after that little rant, I found some gorgeous tapered trousers that I wish to buy (once someone employs me and I make some money). The top one is from Warehouse, the middle two are from Asos and the bottom one is from Topshop. I think that these can be worn in alot of ways, demin shirts, dotey cardigans, chiffon blouses, retro tshirts etc. I just need to get my hands on a pair.

In other news I am on my summer holidays! Woot! Have all my stuff home from my college flat and everything. Just need to get a job now (do I sound desperate??? he he) and I am out with my girlies tomorrow for some shopping then later maybe some dancing!

Desperate in your house...

I've been inspired... I saw the top image on the Satorialist last week and I just wanted to recreate it in some way... As you all know I love vintage/retro looks, so I was quite excited. And then I saw it on Blaubushka and I knew I just had to try it out for myself.

So here is my attempt at the retro headscarf look... I felt ever so cool in this outfit with the headscarf to finish it off and I think it does so nicely. My outfit was a bit strange, I called it my hippy biker desperate housewife look (I know tis a tad long). But I loved it none the less, it had a sense of nonchalant to it that I just love in outfits... Apologies for the messy room.

Headscarf: Neck scarf belonging to my mother
Top: Vero Moda

The Heart dictates the Style...

Was rummaging through images on The Sartorialist and I came across some loverly outfits... My my... our world is very stylish indeed. My personal favourite is the top one, the outfit has an old fashion quirk to it while still being modern and colourful. Love it, love it, love it!

All these outfits are so interesting and chic and are so inspiring. If you feel like you are stuck in a fashion rut (which happens to me at least once a week) I would advise going on to this website and have a browse for some looks...

I love looking at websites like this... Its like spying in peoples wardrobes... I know, I'm terribly nosey...

Phunky Beaver has lift off...

Just to let all you lovely people know my buddy Finch has set up his clothing line (finally)... It is all open for business... Go check them out they are very cool and unique looking! They are very reasonably priced too... My favourite is the racoon tee, so wanna wear it with my new "leather" leggings and my denim shirt... Get on to Phunky Beaver and have an auld looksie, he he. Let me know which one you love the most...

Ducketts Grove...

Finished my last brief of the year last week for the portfolio. The brief was to pick a building and pick a typeface that would be sympathetic to it and pretty much make the type and the image work together. We also needed space for a paragraph or two. Here is my attempt...

The building I chose was Ducketts Grove. It is a burned down 300 year old mansion just outside my hometown. The Duckett family were very wealthy and liked to show it off, they turned a regular mansion into this massive castellated gothic masterpiece. It is such a beautiful building (even burned down) and I just had to use it for this brief. What do you think?

Casual is a dirty word...

I use to loath leggings and then I opened up to them a little, then a little more and now they replace jeans on my ultra lazy days (no zips or belts) and I have added to my collection (recently only had one pair which I lived in).

I was inspired by Zana from Garbage Dress who was sporting a similar styled pair with boots and loads of black layering (she is so cool!) and I was thrilled when I saw that the chic Whisty had a pair like them too! Obviously they are not real leather but I just think they ooze effortless rock chick (which is a look I sometimes try to pull off). I am particularly in love with the cotton panels on the side, they just make the leggings more interesting and casual (though I wouldn't mind wearing these out with my grey heels).

Finch tinted uncertainty....

They say every girl needs a gay friend and here is mine....
This is Finch aka Finchie baby aka Michael J aka Michael J Finch aka Mark Moran.
As I said he is gay which isn't important except for the fact that he came out to his family recently and we are all so proud of him.
You are not allowed touch his hair (so we do).
He doesn't know if butter is a carb.
He likes to dress up in my clothes and my roommates heels (yet he's not a cross dresser).
He introduced me to Lady Gaga, before she was an international name, declaring she was gonna be huge (I did not believe him, how wrong I was).
He is setting up clothing line is called Phunky Beaver (once open I will give details).
I'm in love with his nautical t-shirt from Topman.

Wednesday our portfolios were due which meant on Wednesday night a right auld knees up was in order... For the festivities I wore this loverly lilac dress (cost a fiver!) and the utterly amazing shoes that my mammy bought for me (gotta love mammies). These shoes were talk of the town, Finch demanded that they be on the blog, friends walked around in them, others took photos of them (he he no joke), many gasped with awe and another friend was dying to see the soles (she has a slight obsession with Irregular Choice shoes). I decided to straighten my hair for a change of look, it is something I rarely do. It felt sooo silky, I loved it!!!!

Shining like a star while waiting for the night to start...

Found these beautiful images on Knightcat... I love them! They were styled by Lauren Edelstein and photographed by Lucy-Carr Ellison and I think they did a damn good job! I hope to be going out tonight seeing as its the bank holiday Sunday and I was actually thinking of styling myself a little like this before I saw these images (and by "a little like this" I mean chiffon, sparkles, satin and nudes and very very dark lippy). So I just had to put them up. I really want a sequined, sparkling skirt like the one above (a little shorter though he he).

In other news my portfolio is due Wednesday for college so I need to do some work today and tomorrow and Tuesday (he he) but I'm not too stressed... yet. And then I'm pretty much done (yay!). Just a few things left to do in college like talk to the external examiner and help the third and fourth years....
