Cape? Nope...

My blogging is becoming so infrequent, I'm slightly ashamed of myself (only slightly). Hectic enough week so far plus my internet is being all kinds of fussy so please do forgive me. Anyway onto the outfit at hand.

I bought this jacket in Penneys in my first year of college as one of those summer/autumn transitional jackets that every girl needs (I can't wear my fur just yet). I always loved it because when buttoned up it looks like a cape. I love capes! I always have and was thrilled when I saw them popping up everywhere for the coming winter. But if I don't manage to get one before winter is out I feel this little jacket will fit the brief nicely.

Jacket/Leggings: Penneys

Common interest... The Blogger Bash!

Just Gorgeous!

So the big Blogger Bash was on Saturday and what a night it was! It started off with my very first drive to Dublin... It was scary but I was brave and I made it to the party.

When I arrived I was received with a warm welcome and smiling faces. I didn't recognise many of the faces but by the end of the night I even knew their fashion faux pas (thanks WWIWT!). There was loads of wine (though I had to stick to the orange juice) and teeny tiny cupcakes made by the super sweet Jo Linehan (oooh they were tasty).

A few days before I had this thought, how odd is it that I was going to a place I have never been to meet people I have never actually met before. I was wondering would I actually get on with them or sit there like a depressed fish. But thankfully that was not the case! Those bloggers were so so lovely! I could have talked to them for hours. It was like we knew each other for years.

And they dressed fantastically! Oh sweet lord did they dress well! I was down right jealous of their outfits! I know those last three sentences all finished with an exclamation point but I don't care! (I don't care about that one either)

I loved it! Whisty and Catherine throw another one! Soon!
Apologies for the stolen pictures...

Check out all the blogs, I am sure you'll find something you like...

You know what, I would...

The VMAs was on sometime this week (I think Monday but I can't be sure) and as you know everyone was going silly over Lady Gaga's meat dress. Now other than thinking it looked dreadful I have no problem with it, I eat meat and if I did I would just be hypocritical (so she can feel cold and slimey all she likes).

A dress that she wore that should have gotten the attention is this beauty by the late Alexander McQueen. The headpiece is a tad (a lot) iffy and her hair should have been up but if I was to pick a dress from the VMAs this year to wear it would definitely be this. I mean, come on, it's gorgeous!!!

Usually, I find, Lady Gaga's outfits interesting and maybe sometimes inspiring but rarely wearable. But I would definitely wear this (sans headpiece). And I think Vanity Fair shot this dress beautifully.

Two days, Two outfits, Two pairs of heels and One band...

So I'm back in college about a week now (third year eeek!) and I have to say I am ashamed of myself and my lack of posting, tut tut tut indeed!

Anyway, last night one of my favourite live bands (Blue Moose) was playing (they are one of the very few bands I have seen live but I still love them) in the my college pub, Scribes. Now last night was a Monday and I am one of those girls who always over dresses for the occasion (hence the heels) but over all I thought this was a nice enough outfit for a Monday night. Oh why did I wear heels?!?! I have seen this band before I know that the crowds dance and bounce and I know stilettos are not the best shoe for this kind of dancing... Foolish foolish Rhona. So I managed to grab myself a high stool and sang and bopped along as my girlies danced around me (my feet may have hurt last night but their necks are killing them today).

I must be a glutton for punishment because this morning I got up and decided to wear heels to college (it's ok I survived). Tomorrow I have decided to ditch the sophistication of heels and wear my old converse. Life needs balance after all...

PS: That is a spare bedroom in my flat. I'm lazy but not that lazy!

Fighting the masses...

I know she ain't everyones favourite person but I really like Drew Barrymore. And it came to my realisation yesterday that I always have...

I enjoy her in every movie I've seen her in. And I really like her style. Now, like everyone, she has had a few fashion hiccups but I am willing to over look them for her style is so interesting and not over done.

For her day looks she teams tailored pieces with ripped jeans, band tshirts with aztec beading and breton stripes with beanies. And her hair always has an element of I really couldn't care less (huge fan of that!).

For her night/red carpet looks she always has a vintage feel to her looks with a smidge of quirkiness...

I honestly think she is my new fashion icon...

Plus in the first collage she makes a brilliant facial expression (the one with the hair down and the biker jacket). It is kinda "I caught you looking but it's ok" (an odd remark I know but sure so you expect any less from me?).

Hang him in the Tate

A few weeks ago I was skimming through one of the Sunday Times magazines and I came across an article about Bryan Ferry. Now I never actually read the article (probably should have) but I read the introduction to it and a piece of it stuck with me... It read that it was once said that he was so stylish he should be hung in the Tate.

Now me being not only slightly fashion obsessed but also being an art lover thought this was the best compliment I had ever heard... Wish it was said about me that's for sure! So I asked my mum about his music and his fashion and she told me that he was such a sharp dresser and always wore suits and shirts and had his hair combed back. He was the epitome of cool...

So I looked him up on the auld internet and he truly was a sharp dresser. He does look cool (I think anyway), he looks like someone you want to get to know but wonder if you should... I like his style... a lot!
