The world wind is over...

So Christmas is behind us (but we still got New Years!) and most of my family have dispersed. So I thought an outfit post was in order. This outfit is made up of old favourites, new bargains and a gift...

I know it's kind of a full skirt but I feel more like Audrey Hepburn in it than Grace Kelly. I will be Grace Kelly for New Years Eve... Bought it in the Next sale yesterday (the place was so empty by the time I was there!) My oldest sister and I decided to battle our post party blues (twas my father's 50th the night before) with some retail therapy. We topped it all off with paninis and pints of milk. The hat was bought in Blanaid Hennessy's new shop. I was helping her out before the shop opened and I just kept staring at it. It had to be mine. I will get better pics of that ring, it is not being done justice here!

Hope you all aren't too deflated that Christmas is over...

If Santa really loved me #7

It is Christmas Eve and I have my final three bloggers who are desperate to get their extravagant gifts from Father Christmas...

First is Glamrocks Luna... These ladies want a good bit off poor auld Santa. If Santa really loved them he would give them access to the vogue wardrobe, a shopping spree in Chanel, a time machine so they can go back to the 80s and dress and dance like Romy and Michelle whenever they wanted to, a vat of zero calorie Ben and Jerry's, silky smooth fizz free hair oh... and world peace!

Santa better start sorting all that out fairly sharpish.

Vogue Wardrobe (I think!)

Who will follow that lot?

Well that would be Aisling Keenan of Think What You Like, a mad yolk with one hell of a blog! Now if Santa really loved her, he'd bring her: laser eye surgery to give her the gift of sight, a Chanel 2.55 and a Chanel filofax, YSL Tribs in every colour. Louboutin lace-up boots. A Marchesa dress for New Years Eve. A Lorraine Schwartz diamond and sapphire ring (he'd give that to her boyfriend to pass onto her maybe)... A trip to Las Vegas. An Alexander McQueen scarf, a rolex watch, an exact replica of one of Anna's dresses from The King and I.

Oh it goes on... The use of a personal trainer and chef for the year. A years supply of See's Candy Butterscotch Lollipops (GOOD GOD IN HEAVEN they're amazing...) A meeting with Beyonce (Santa is magic, he could totally organise that) aaaaand finally, a cure for this desperate materialism I'm suffering from.

I am beginning to feel sorry for Santa...

Finally.... Our last blogger is the lovely Jo Linehan of S-oh S-ew (have you had her cupcakes? - delish!). If Santa really loved her, he would give her... a ticket to the Rolling Stones Christmas Concert in Central Park (which is completely fictitious but real in her dreams!), a dinner date with Caleb Followill, shopping date with Carrie Bradsha, studio tour with Karl Lagerfeld,  job at Elleuk and a pair of Miu Miu heels to do it all in...

Good luck Santa!

Merry Christmas to all my lovely readers xx

Boom, stylin...

I may be verbally slapped for liking Bruno Mars' new song Grenade (dunno how people feel about him) but I really do like it, really really do... What I think makes it better is the video for it...

For bits of it he is wearing his signature hat (which I'm not terribly keen on) but for the most part he is all dolled in his retro styled suit (I do love a good suit) and shoes and his hair all nicely combed back, he's all dolled up and no where to go. And the image of him hauling that piano around is somehow haunting and beautiful. I like to think it goes a bit deeper than just bringing it to the girls house.

Sorry, I am slightly obsessed with this idea and this video and this song...

If Santa really loved me #6

Ok who is gonna spill their greedy little guts today?

First up is Sarah Waldron of The Licentiate who, I feel, is being practical as well as indulgent- if that is at all possible. Well now, Santa if you really loved Sarah (and I am sure you do) will you please get her a brand spanking new Macbook Air... Thank you.

Macbook Air

Next is Jane Kenny from Noisy Shoes. And boy she is a greedy little minx... Instead of giving me one item she gave me loads! Greedy or what??? Poor Santa, he ain't made of money!

So what does Jane want off Santa, well she wants a Hassleblad, a Leica, a Givenchy studded bag and some Balenciaga shoes... Super materialistic, just the way Christmas should be ;)

If Santa really loved me #5

Today I have two more bloggers that have told me what Santa should get them if he really loved them...

The first blogger is the ever so cool Cathy Lawson from The Style Strutter. She feels that if Santa really loved her he would get her an Alexander McQueen Crystal Encrusted Clutch Bag! Maybe he could bring two... one for me and one for her (it's totally doable!)

Alexander McQueen Crystal Encrusted Clutch Bag

The next blogger is one of my favourite story tellers, Catherine Carr of the brilliant A Chick Named Hermia. She feels a silk Hermes scarf would do nicely for around her neck this Christmas Day. Santa can surely that... I am sure of it!

Two more coming tomorrow...

If Santa really loved me #4

I am running out of time for all my bloggers... I've been terrible in keeping up with blogging (I even forgot Graphic Monday!) Forgive me, it is Christmas after all. So I am gonna do two in a row from now on so I fit them all in... My bloggers do not think this makes you any less special.

So our first lovely blogger today is Stephen Moloney of Stitches, Fabric and Soul (love his blog, you should love it too). Stephen feels no need to persuade Santa. Like me, he knows he's been good and is sure to get a gift off Father Christmas.

And what does he want? Well nothing less than a Mulberry Alexa... Who doesn't?!

Mulberry Alexa

And now blogger two... The gorgeous Sara Devine of Lions, Tigers and Sara, Oh My! (love her!) has told me what she wants off Santa. The items she wants are very beautiful and very sold out but sure Santa can work miracles so not to worry.

Sara wants a pair of Acne Atacoma wedges. She wants them so badly and doesn't care if she can't walk in them. But she can always sit and admire them... A big part of me wants these too!

The Simpsons... in Harpers Bazaar?

Now we are all too mature for looking at cartoons (shakes head violently) but I think we can all appreciate the Simpsons in Harpers Bazaar...

My friend showed me this and I just had to show you guys! Like, how cool is this?!? I love it, it's a bit a fun. Gotta love a bit of fun... I particularly love the Jean Paul Gautier tartan mac that Marge is sporting.

Have a few giggles and enjoy.

Fashion doesn't always take itself seriously...

Holy Moly...

People, I woke up to the most unbelievable news this morning... Ok are you ready for it? I have been nominated for Ireland's Most Influential Fashion Blogger 2010!!! Holy sweet potatoes ain't that something?! At first I thought it was a joke or something... surely they can't mean me and my little blog.

But it's true! I have never been nominated for anything like this before and I have some SERIOUS competition, I am going up against the big dogs... But even to be nominated is something special. Apologies for all the gushiness!

It would be so sweet and wonderful if you felt this blog deserved it and if you do, would you mind so much if you voted here. Only if you want to now...

Thanks to my mystery nominator, whoever you are. And thanks to you guys! My readers... without you I would just be rambling to the ever vast cyber space.

I am now off to skip around in delight :)

A little bit of festive sparkle...

Want something sparkly and fitted for this party season? Something that glitters like gold, that shows a hint of worlds both modern and old? Something you could wear with (or without) your trusty black opaques? Something that will dazzle with red lips and smoulder with a smokey eye? Something that can be dressed up or dressed down? Something that will require little thought when rushing around because you're already 20 minute late for that Christmas office party? Something that is sure to make all eyes stay on you?

Then get this dress... I would, if I had the money and there was one left in my size... Costs a bit (roughly €176 - yikes!) but in the long run will be worth it... Go on indulge yourself this Christmas (wink!)

Whoops left something important out- it's from Miss Selfridge

If Santa really loved me #3

Our next blogger wants not only the gift style, poise and elegance but she also wants the Chanel 2.55 bag as well! It could only be the whimsical Blau von T from Blaubushka (if you haven't seen her blog you should... tis fabulous!)

Like Blanaid she also feels a little speech would persuade Santa, bringing up Ms Chanel since we all know he had a soft spot for her (who doesn't?)

"For Santa you see this piece of quilted perfection is all a lady needs to look refined, groomed and to elope with royalty (just the way Coco would want me to!)"

She wants it so much she even made a collage!

Drink me...

There are loads of colours on trend at the mo.... and as well as copper I am loving burgundy... or bordeaux or wine or whatever you kids are calling it these days. I think it is a sophisticated colour, sophisticated but fun. Dark, daring and dangerous yet playful. It's the colour the cool kids wear. I need to get some! It really is a shock to the system realising I don't have any burgundy coloured clothes to my name... seriously must remedy this.

I have burgundy lipstick, that's a start.

Any (or all) of these will do just nicely... Plenty of burgundy to go around!

If Santa really loved me #2

So who is the next blogger to divulge her most materialistic want this festive season? Well that would be Blanaid Hennessy of blanaid.com my dears... This stylish lady knows exactly what she wants, a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots in Glitter Pewter. Yummy, I know!

She believes a letter of persuasion is the way to go to win Santa over...

Dear Santa - you seem like a nice guy. These pewter Litas are also nice. Me getting stuff is nice too. Let's let the nice things collide this Christmas!

Think she'll convince him?

If Santa really loved me #1

Christmas is pretty much upon us and everyone is finishing up in college, going to their office party, panicking about gifts or getting their house all nice and festive. And as we all know Christmas is a loving time spent with friends and family.

But if we were to be honest with ourselves we would all say that Christmas means gifts (if only marginally). So I have asked my fellow bloggers what they would ask for off Santa if they allowed themselves to be completely greedy and materialistic this festive season... The one item that would melt their hearts.

For the next few days I will be revealing what these Irish bloggers really want for Christmas.
Santa better be reading this...

My first blogger is Anna O'Shea of Style Girl (gorgeous blog, go check it out). She told me she is obsessed with finding the perfect leather jacket and believed she has found it. The one she wants (shown below) is by Versus and costs a whopping 3 grand! But lucky for Anna it is now half price...

Graphic Monday...

This is the work of, the illustrator, Gary Taxali.

I've been looking at type lately so it's nice to have a change, let's mix up! Go mad and look at pictures.

Art director and author, Steven Heller said that "Gary Taxali visually blends now with then. His style, inspired by vintage comics and advertising art, is repurposed with the goal of communicating the ironies and comical essence of popular culture. His work is at once alluring and endearing. Despite the vintage look, he is neither maudlin nor nostalgic. His imagery is rich in satiric verve."

I just love it, it's old fashioned, it's colourful, it's playful, it's quirky... I would hang these on my walls.

Check out more of his work here.

Wake and feel the chill...

Was out braving the cold now that the big thaw is on... Went to Kilkenny with my mam for some festive shopping! And then shoveled rock hard ice off my drive way (that was unbelievably hard).

While doing all that I decided to sport some granny chic with my brogues, chunky knits, herringbone tights, tartan coat (not wearing it here- obviously) and big rings! Also there is nothing warmer than a massive skirt! I have been living in this skirt since I got it, my favourite thing about it is when I sit down there is just so much material...

I like lots of material.

Hope everyone is feeling warm and festive!
