Graphic Monday and a short rant...

This is the logo and business card design for Kate Murphy Photography. It was designed Jessica Hische who I think has the cutest style! So very girly and with a quirky, vintage twist... Love the yellow and white and colouring on the business card and how she split up the website. Very unique.

One day I will be this good... hopefully.

Again apologies for the lack of posts, so much college work. Right now I should be writing my proposal for my thesis (if only I had a good idea) and I've a major project due next Monday and another one due the week after... I'm set for some serious hair pulling and all I wanna do is watch Mad Men.

Please do bear with me.

Lazy...

Apologies for the lack of posting this week, I have had a hectic week with college work and then a big 21st shindig for my friend Finch! So please do forgive me...

Anyway here is a seriously lazy post. I just saw this image on Asos and realised that it contains colours that I feel should be in my colour palette for the coming year. Simply beautiful! I am not a huge fan of very vibrant colour but black and grey are not best suited for the warmer months. So these colours will do nicely!

And just look at these palazzo pants! Slightly punchier colour than the image above (same trousers) but I really do love this colour. It's dirty vibrant! And only €51!! I want, I want, I want!

Just a few...

Was browsing this morning in Topshop to see what they had to offer me and I found some darling things that I now want, no, need in my wardrobe and in my life...

First up are a pair of suedette leggings. I really want a pair. Last year was leather (which I still love) but this year seems to be suede and (unfortunately) velvet when it comes to ones leggings. The suede is cool, bohemian, effortlessly chic and deserves recognition. Velvet just reminds of Juicy Couture and soccer moms who should know better. Not good.

But Suede leggings gets the thumbs up from me... now gimme!

The second is this stunning crochet kimono cardigan thingy! Reason for my lust is probably due to the seventies trend that I am so in love with this year. But also because its very very pretty and looks super comfy. Perfect for jeans on a sunny afternoon (when will that come?).

The final item of my desire is this little yellow number. You may disagree but I feel it is quite diverse and a perfect day-to-night piece. If it were mine I would wear it with my with tee and cute pomps during the day and then slip on my dark brown platform sandals and boyfriend blazer for night. A messy model look... Perfect!

Ok I'm done drooling...

Now can someone give me the money to buy these pretty things, please and thank you!

I put my new shoes on...

These are my new shoes! Remember awhile back I wanted a good pair of black heels with just a little bit of character? Well these are them. Aren't they beautiful? They are really high and just so lovely on. I got them from a shop on Ebay called Show Story Shop (such a bloody tongue twister!). I love that shop, they always have such unique shoes...

Unfortunately I am not wearing these beauties today even though I think that outfit looks so cool! Very New York chic I thought. I was simply trying them on and showing them off to you. They will get a proper debut at my friends 21st next Saturday.

No, I am wearing my trusty cons today with my loose shirt and comfy leggings because I am having an experimentation day for my new project in college while listening to Paolo Nutini... So there will be a lot of photography, sketching, sheer messing with different mediums and some dancing too. Heels would not have been appropriate (though much cooler).

Feelin' Swish...

Haven't done an outfit post in awhile... I have been missing them.

I wore this outfit to college today. I strutted through the hallways (my skirt swishing behind me)and felt ever so stylish. I do love this skirt but I do need to take it in. I feel happy and annoyed that I have to take it in, happy that I am smaller than I thought I was and annoyed because I really don't feel like taking it in (just too lazy) but it seriously needs it.

This is one of my favourite tops, which is a bit odd because I don't wear it often. No reason why I don't, am going to correct that and show this top some love. I think it is a terribly cutsey top, something I'd expect Cassie (from Skins) to wear.

I wore heels to college, still determined to teach my feet to behave and like heels. By the end of my college day my feet decided to give up and die on me so I had to change to flats. But then I was left with a problem, that skirt doesn't suit flats with tights. Solution change into jeans, comfy dark straight legs.

Does anyone else ever change their outfit during the middle of the day? Or is it just me?

Graphic Monday...

This is a calender design that I found on Graphic - Exchange. I think this is simply beautiful!

Just lovely...

I feel a welcomed trend coming on...

Asos

It has become obvious that seventies fashion is a serious trend for this brand new year of ours.... And I have to say I am pleased! I think seventies fashion was a bit of fun, I see old photos of my parents who were teenagers during that decade with their platform heels (mom), frilly shirts (dad) and bell bottoms (both).

I think it'll be my trend of the summer. I already have my trusty floppy hat and flares at the ready. But knowing me that just isn't enough, I think I may just need this jumpsuit. Tis around €58 (which I don't think is a terrible price for a jumpsuit). Also I noticed Penneys have some nice floral dresses (serious seventies style flowers!) in dirty yellows and browns with braided belts on the waists. I must have a proper investigation when I get the chance, try them on too.

Anyone else loving the seventies vibe?

Graphic Monday...

So Graphic Monday is back for a new year... I thought I'd start it off with something I found while I was doing some college research. This is the branding for the city of Melbourne, it was created by Landor...

"The challenge was to reflect City of Melbourne’s cool sophistication on the world stage, capture the passion of its people, and provide the city with a unified, flexible, and future-focused image. The new identity needed to overcome political complexities, improve the cost-effectiveness of managing the brand, and unite the disparate range of entities (including the council, City of Melbourne’s destination brand, and an ever-growing portfolio of different initiatives, programs, services, events, and activities)."

That's an awful lot!

I think it looks brilliant, cool, fresh, fun (and a bunch of other adjectives that are good)!

Love it!

Emmanuelle Alt...

This is Emmanuelle Alt... I'm sure you know who she is (I didn't - the shame). She is French Vogue's new editor. She was bumped up from her last job as fashion director.

Her style is quite interesting, there is something very harsh about her look but a grown up harshness (you know what I mean). The tailored jackets make all that leather and stuff more "vogue". There seems to be a uniformity to her look. Every outfit kind of looks the same but yet they are all different. She tries new things but doesn't go mad. She definitely knows what she likes...

How will she do as editor at French Vogue? I wish her the best.

I love her white jacket, just in case you were wondering.

The cold makes my chiffon quiver...

This is a beautiful editorial from Elle Turkey, the December edition. The photographer is Senol Altun and the very clever stylist is Melis Agazat. The two stunning models are Ana Zalewska and Karolin Machova.

Enjoy!

Gettin Auld...

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you,

The Year of the Flare...

 Fashion Squad

Fashiontoast

So I'm getting a bit bored of the auld skinny jeans... I'm just not interested in them anymore. I still love my leggings though.

My interest in flares has erupted once more. My first proper pair of jeans were these light coloured, blue flares when I was twelve. I lived in them til the ripped. I felt so cool in them. I loved them... But then I started wearing wide leg jeans, the boot-cut and finally skinny. But now it has come full circle. I think I had it right all along

I have two pairs (I've had them over a year) and I rarely wore them, even though I love the shape. But after seeing them on a few bloggers I'm feeling inspired and I cannot wait to start living and loving in my flares again.
Awear

I wanna get a nice dark blue pair (I already have a medium and a light blue pair). I feel I could wear these at night as well. I thought they would be very nice with a mauve/cream chiffon fitted top and some tan platforms.

I have my eye on this pair from Awear. They look sleek, sexy, fun yet comfortable. I want! Only 30 spoons, bargain!

Am I alone in my flare love?

Love this...

I saw this on Elle of the Ball on Sunday I felt I just had to show it to you guys. There is something about this dress that is just amazing (you may not agree). I think it's the sheer simplicity mixed with the block colouring. You kind of think it shouldn't work but it does!

I want to get my hands on it! I wanna see what it would be like with loads of accessories and then with a simple chain and then with hair down... I wanna see if this dress is truly versatile or is it just that Kate Bosworth managed to make it work when it shouldn't.

I want to believe it is versatile just because it is so beautiful... But sure even if it's not I'll be more than happy to wear it this way...

Lazy day outfit...

I had an extremely lazy day... And, as usual, I wanted to be stylishly comfortable while having my lazy day. I lay around until 2, got dressed, watched telly, tried to do work, had soup and ice cream to follow and then watched a movie. And now I hope to convince the boyfriend to come get a bag of chips with me. A good and nearly pointless day!

So what was I gonna where doing all of this??? Well I figure a really loose blouse, jeggings and some bargain booties (€7!) would do the trick!

Jeggings: Oasis

Sure it's all pants...

 YSL

Marc Jacobs

So I was skimming through some of the spring 2010 ready-to-wear collections yesterday and I felt very uninspired. A lot of it was just a tad bland or a tad nasty...

But, there was one trend slipping through some of the collections I did like... liked a lot actually. It was in fact the high waisted, wide leg trousers. I love a good pair of trousers but believe it or not I only own one pair (shock horror I know). I really hope this trend trickles down onto the high street. I've already seen flowery ones in Awear that I want! Unfortunately they don't seem to be selling them... yet.

The YSL look is very sleek, sexy and sophisticated... Possibly for a night out or even for the office (with a gorgeous fitted blazer). And the Marc Jacobs really interests because they are nice and colourful. Now I tend to have a more muted coloured wardrobe but I would gladly team any of those trousers with some greay/cream/black/whatever I can find or perhaps I could just start to like wearing loads of colour! Plus they remind me of the movie Evil under the Sun, but that could just be the big hats.

Have you found a trend you feel you will making your own this spring?
