Catching the surf...
We all know I love the style from back in the twenties/thirties/forties/fifties/sixties/seventies (ok anything vintage!) but lately I've been seriously crushing on fifties pin-up/rockabilly-esque looks. I find it quite sexy without being too revealing and still has its little quirks and fun. In my mind it doesn't take itself too seriously, which is just perfect for me. I've been slowly creating a collection retro style pieces to suit my shape and those jeans and shirt (among many) are on my list! I have already bought this dress along with other stuff of a similar style...
So if the weather would stop being temperamental and decide (already!) to come out and play this how I would love to be dressed for my summer days. Kitsch, tropical prints, high waisted jeans or shorts, espadrilles, head-scarfs and retro shades. Would also be great if I could keep up wearing lipstick (like a true fifties lady!)
Or maybe I'll just entice the sunshine and good weather with my killer summer looks (wink wink and leg pop.)

All yours, Blaubushka Blaubushka Blaubushka ya ya...
I must stress that this is an outfit inspired by the blog that is Blaubushka and not imitating that outfits of the wonderful Blau von T.
Diamonds for the lady, lace lingerie for the seductress underneath... Velvet opulence for the secret grunge queen. The rum filled flask stashed in her garter shakes as her mary-janes dance on the puddle stained cobble stones of her dusky dreams.
Blau's blog brings me to another world filled with hip, young people you wish you could be. It is a superb cocktail of grunge, vintage, lady-like glamour and a painfully hip beast that you never fully see. Music I have never heard of, images that send my mind in search of more and the smile of a girl who seems both bashful and confident at the same time.
To Blaubushka!

Inspiration from those...
I was taught that anything I create has been inspired by something else, even I didn't mean it to be. I think this can also be said for fashion and styling. Magazines suggest that people should look to celebrities for inspiration, other people get it from art. The majority of people are inspired by other people. A good deal of my inspiration comes from the people I know and the blogs I follow.
Blogs are an endless source of inspiration for me, and not just the outfit posts. Their "inspiration" posts, their posts on their new favourite song, photos they took, the styling and design of the blog and how the person writes are all areas where inspiration can be found. And for the next five weeks I want to celebrate this.
For the next five Saturdays I am going to create an outfit that has been inspired by my favourite Irish blogs starting tomorrow with Blaubushka and then continuing on with Whisty, Blanaid, Stitches, Fabric and Soul and, She's in Vogue (maybe not in that order though.) The outfit will depict the vibe I get from the blog and the blogger. I hope they won't mind... I just want to show how blogs have inspired my own sense of style.
If nothing else it will be terribly flattering for said blogs (and hopefully not creepy...)
Inspiration not imitation...

Pastel black shades...
I was supposed to go to the Beauty Spot last night but my friend couldn't make so I just popped to the cinema with my fella instead. A lovely alternative! This is what I wore yesterday, I had to go to something with my parents that required being a little fancy. A great excuse to wear one of my favourite pairs of shoes! These get a lot of comments and I am not surprised, they are so very unique and oh so pretty.
It looks like I am wearing a jumpsuit but it is actually a top and trousers. I love these trousers, I wasn't expecting the shape to suit me but I think I look decent enough. And that cardigan is donkeys years old, had since I was about fourteen years old or so.
Quick mention of the earrings, beautiful! A gift from my fella a couple of years ago when he was in France. He told me they were from a night market in Vichy (very cool.) I rarely get to wear them because I feel they are too elegant for regular use. I love them.

Nom Nom Nom...
Ah these booties are gorgeous! I have been imagining what I would wear these with beauties, midi skirts and ballet tops come to mind. They are from Topshop but sadly are well out of my budget at approximately €85 (I hate being broke). So I am gonna watch them closely, ya never know, a good sale could come along and they could be mine! Fingers crossed!
I would pick the grey ones over the tan ones but beggars can't be choosers. Its times like these where I wish I was influential enough that Topshop would just give me a pair (size 5, cheers) and that would be the end of it... Sigh

Spotted...
This Saturday night I shall be heading to The Beauty Spot in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel with my gal Chris. Now I so wanted to go this event last year but it was always in Dublin (all the cool things happen in Dublin- grrr) so I could never go. This year it is going all over the place including Cork and Kildare and the likes. Kilkenny is much handier for me to actually get to so I will be there.... with bells on!
There are loads of things on such as free makeovers, upstyles & advice from Beauty Spot make up & hair experts at the NYC Beauty Bar, quirky Pop-up shops for you to check out and summer soundtrack from our Beauty Spot DJs... and there is no cover charge (I think that means it's free in!)
Of course I have started to think about what I shall wear for this fine evening. So I created a teeny mood board (I am terrible for posting "going out" outfits so I hope mood boards will do when I forget to.) I'm thinking of flowers in my hair, yellow gingham, dotey t-bars, a cutsie cardigan and a big smile! Also Chris if you are reading this, dress up so I don't look so stupid please!
I promise to do my best to take a photo of my outfit...

Ring them animal crackers...
If like me you like your rings (especially when they are something a little special) then I think you might like this site that I just love. Now they do sell loads of jewllery but I am just focusing in their rings (they have loads of loverly things if you want something a little bit out there). Also they do other rings that do not include animals, these just happen to be my favourite ones (the bunny in particular.)
The website is called Galibardy, I came across them one day while stumbling. I thought their rings were very unique and striking (I love jewllery that isn't typical.) I was surprised at the prices, usually stuff like this is ridiculously over priced for some bazaar reason, but not these with most rings under $30. Well impressed!
I always feel that a ring can change an outfit, not fully sure why I have this belief. I think they can really boost an outfit. Maybe it is just me but rings set people apart, they can tell something about the person and show different sides to that persons personalities.
Don't laugh at me, just go have a look! :)

Got that feeling...
My cousin is turning 23 (I know, such a momentus event sniff sniff) and she is hosting this bbq/booze fest in her home which is in the back arse of Mayo. I am very close to my cousin (more like my buddy really) yet I have never been to one of her birthdays. Shocking I know, so I am heading off to this one and I cannot wait! So you know what the means... WHAT THE HELL DO I WEAR?!?!
I was so confused about this dilemma until yesterday evening when I threw a cropped cardigan over this maxi skirt I was wearing after work (I got food on my shirt while cooking-such a mess I am). My boyfriend later turned to me and told that he thought my outfit looked really nice on me, he suggested that I should wear it out sometime and the he suggested why not on Saturday. I am most certainly rubbing off on that boy, he's beginning to know his shizzle when it comes to clothes.
The outfit is perfect, it is comfy, warm and a wee bit sexy. Since the outfit is all black and fitted I thought that shabby jewellery, messy hair, and some smokey eyes would balance it out and give me a slight boho vibe. I would love to wear my tan t-bar platforms but it is out in the country with cows and grass and the likes... heels would not be appropriate. So gladiator flats will do just fine.
That should do... Wouldn't ya think?

An overdue thank you...
I cannot believe it has taken me this long to do this... Awhile back I was awarded the Kreativ Blogger Award by not one but two other bloggers (blush). Firstly by Blau von T of Blaubushka and secondly by Maggie Carey of Magatha-May. I want to say a huge thank you to both of them for thinking of little ol' me!
I think I'm supposed to pick other bloggers to pass this on to but to be honest I think the bloggers I love would have already been given this award and then we'd just be going around in circles... Nobody wants that :)
So to all the bloggers of Ireland, you are amazeballs! Keep up the crackin' work!

Whiter than the sun...
Hope everyone is showing off their legs on this glorious day! The weather lady said it ain't gonna be around for long so get out and enjoy it. Was delirah to be able to wear a dress without the need of tights. It wasn't looking good this morning with all those clouds over my house but the left (finally!) and I could go around like an extra from a Daz advert. I was blinding my parents during lunch. And I get to wear my sunnies!
This little beauty is actually from Penneys. Got it back in March I think. Saw it and felt it would be great and comfy for the summer. And I was right (thankfully). Is a great staple piece that you can wear in many ways with loads of different colours, a good dress to pack in a suitcase.
The sandals are a last summer buy and I am still in love with them. When I bought them I had my mum on hand to tell me whether they truly were seventies in style (which is what I wanted). The earrings are actually a gift from my sister, she bought them for me from a stall in Cork. They are so interesting looking.
Get out in that sunshine!
