stiff collars...

I always liked the idea of detachable collars but being of the large chested persuasion I always thought buttoned up blouses and what not were something I needed to stay away from and simply admire from afar. That was until I saw this picture of Pixie Lott during London Fashion Week wearing the collar like a necklace. I was inspired! Why didn't I think of it before?!

Now I just have to pick one. Shouldn't be too hard, they seem to be everywhere and in many different styles, from floaty chiffon ones to ones covered in spikes to furry ones... I particularly love the little peter pan ones, covered in sequins.

I love sequins.

What do you think of this trend? Hate it? Love it? Fear it?

graphic monday...

I thought I'd show you my favorite designers. They are called Aesthetic Apparatus and they a print-making/graphic design duo by the names of Dan Ibarra & Michael Byzewski.

I love them, you'll love them...

Enjoy!

winning...

See! So happy I'm even smiling

Well you'll never guess what happened this week... I've only just gone and won a SILVER FACTORY tshirt!!! Can you smell the excitement? I think so. I could be possibly too excited, is it possible to be too excited?

Anyway, I entered a competition awhile back on a brilliant blog known as the Licentiate and by random, marvelous luck this beautiful skull tshirt suddenly belonged to me. Sarah from the Licentiate confessed she was a little more than tempted to say it got lost in the post. I am so happy she did not.

Cheers for not keeping it to yourself though I can honestly understand why you would.

The great thing about this top (apart from the amazing print) is the sheer size of it. It's HUGE! Now I know you could get smaller ones but why would you. This tshirt demands excess. It demands to be draped over you not stuck to you. It demands to billow in the wind along with your curls (which happened to me already today). It demands to hang elegantly off your shoulders like the work of art that it is.

Plus it's dead comfy when it's big and baggy.

Thank you to the Licentiate for holding the competition, thank you Shutterbug for stocking such beautiful tshirts and thank you Silver Factory for creating them.

yum...

I'm not actually in need of a new coat. I have loads, possibly too many. But it has gotten seriously cold all of a sudden. And not that "jaysus it's a bit nippy" cold, I mean the "hair raising, body shivering while you are sitting inside" cold. So forgive me for daydreaming of something a tad thicker than my trusty March-September jacket (honestly I barely wear another jacket). I think I'll be changing over tomorrow once I get back home from college.

Til then, I will lust after this gorgeous wool mac from Asos. Drool with me if you will.

breakfast at tiffany's...

When I was putting this outfit together in my head (don't judge me - I know you all do it too) I thought how similar this whole look was to Audrey Hepburn's look from the scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's where she is knitting.

You know the one...

Except for some reason I don't look nearly as happy. It's not I'm not happy I just like being moody in pictures (ahem, adds to the cool ya know) and according to the great Sara Devine I "do moody well."

In other news, I LOVE these leggings/treggings/whatever-you-call-them! I wouldn't call them leggings really because they are thick (yay!) but they are super stretchy and high waisted like leggings. Whatever they are I love them. They are a God send. I have been living in them. I should really buy a second pair.

Not much to say about this except I love it...

Good night.

simply...

Simple does it. Kirsten Dunst always impresses me when it comes to her style. She tries new things and has fun, but never outrageously so. She is not like all the other girls you see. She's different. A style inspiration indeed.

Enjoy your Sunday...

wish I was wearing #2

A lazy Saturday calls for a not so lazy outfit. Being a student does not lend itself to dressing fussy or fancy. I genuinely crave the days when I can dress like this on a daily basis. Perfect for heading from work to grabbing a few cocktails...

When that happens I can keep my lazy Saturday outfits.

spots and bows...

Week two in college and things are going fairly well. I haven't crashed and burned... yet.

But enough about that look at my new BOOTS! Needless to say I love them. From Dunnes would you believe. Again, I am in love. Without sounding very cheesy (ahem!) they go with EVERYTHING! Well not everything but quite a lot, could be because I wear a lot of dark colours but that shouldn't take away from the fact that I find them extremely versatile.

Other recent purchases include my dotey little anchor brooch from Shutterbug, ain't it cute!? It is seriously becoming one of my favourite shops. If only I lived closer... And one final note, this is one of the most comfortable dresses I have ever owned. Love it when things are both practical and pretty.

tartan evenings...

Now it could be because we now seem to have highland weather but I have been seriously crushing on all things tartan lately. All this blustery weather has me dying for heavy wool tartan dresses with thick grey tights and boots. I want to hide from the rain under a tartan umbrella and snuggle up in a heavy plaid scarf.

Warm fire and hot tea.

And tartan...

graphic monday...

At this very moment I am working on my thesis (blah) but luckily I really love the topic. It's all about topological maps and such. I would go into detail but it would probably bore you all senseless. So to, em, celebrate my thesis (cough) I thought I would dedicate Graphic Monday to it this week.

This map is at the centre of my thesis work. It is the NY subway map designed by Massimo Vignelli back in 1972. Sadly, it did not do well as was discontinued a few years later.

Isn't it the most beautiful map you have ever seen?

I want one, framed no less.

anchors...

Back in college a week now and I am trying hard to keep posting. The blog is my baby after all, a fat, hungry baby that needs to be fed. I took these photos during the week but only getting round to posting them now. If I can keep to at least one outfit post a week (along with all the other posts of course) I will be pleased. Here I am trying to make what is clearly a summer dress more "September appropriate" with black accessories. I think it works alright. I felt good walking around in it and that's good enough for me.

Fourth year is proving difficult and I wanna get stuck in early to keep my head above water (no pun intended seeing as I am wearing an anchor dress). Do not worry though (I know you are) I will still be around, posting and rambling like always.

a whimsical wilderness...

Started back to college today and am currently getting stuck into my work... Sigh. No fear though, while I am getting on top of being back to college you can have a good auld read of this guest post by Sinead Kelly of the terribly cute Little Miss Pinki.

I sat in my room and pondered, perched on my bed I trawled through magazines, wondering what exactly I would write for this post. It had to be appropriate for Rose Tinted Uncertainy, I wanted to portray what Rhona portrays in each of her posts – glamour, vintage, classic hem lines and a love for all that is retro, I hoped it would reflect her style and taste in fashion.

Low and behold, I found it!

For those of you who don’t know me, know now that I have quite a weakness for high end ad campaigns. With the new batch coming to life on the pages of the September Issues, the excitement is thrilling.

Let me present to you the Mulberry campaign for Autumn/Winter 2011. A dazzling yet whimsical array of glamour and vintage-inspired look, classic cuts from the 1920s made contemporary for the noughties woman. Lots of layering, winter scarfs and a multitude of textures it’s perfect for the season ahead. The models scream demure screen sirens, yet they are distinctly more laid back. Naturalness oozes from each shot with autumnal shades, warm hues, luxe hair and barely there make-up and of course, the BAGS! (Deary me, they are a tale for another day!) The background with all of its oversized creatures in a cosy sitting room is genius, the use of colour is beyond complimentary in each shot.

It is truly breathtaking. I love!

Enjoy

graphic monday...

Yes I am pretty much back in college which means it is time for the return on Graphic Monday! I know you are all terribly excited about it. So to ease us back in I just thought I'd show you the EP cover for the band Feeder's new album. I just love the simplicity of the font for the name, the fact that it is behind the woman (yeah she makes more sense when you watch the video for the title song), the idea of the name written on the woman, the colour of the back ground. I could go on but...

I love it all!

Happy Monday!
